"This is the assistant principal; we have a serious situation here."
"What's wrong?"
"Two boys got out of detention and were caught playing around in an unfinished classroom. They toppled some equipment and ruptured a gas line. I am sorry, but you are the only person I could reach."
"I'll be there in five minutes." He turned to Emily and kissed her on the cheek.
"I have to go, there is a problem." She smiled and shrugged.
"I guess I will go and fill up the tank."

He ran to the garage and took out his old motorcycle, grabbing the torn hand grips and a straddling the torn seat. He watched Emily get into the truck and waved as he rode out of the driveway. He made a quick right and opened the throttle.

He wasted no time in getting to the school, running stop signs and dodging cars. He parked his bike and ran inside. The assistant principal grabbed him, "Here, quickly." They ran through the hallway and into the classroom. The principal pointed at a crack in two pipes, in the still unfinished wall. The janitor laughed. "Is that the leak?" The principal nodded as the janitor pulled out a lighter. "What are you doing?" The principal tried to grab his hand, as he lit the lighter.

Nothing. "See that pipe? It's made of copper. Natural gas reacts funny to copper, this is for hot water. If there had been a gas leak, you would have noticed the smell. They add chemicals to it to make it smell, so you can tell you have a leak. Ok?" The principal sat down on the floor, "I am sorry, really."
"It isn't even being used, yet. No water."
"Thanks for coming, on such short notice."
"That's my job."
